Team Work

Well at the moment I am day 14 (without a break), with another 5 days before my weekend. Yesterday I did a 16 hour day and today another 8 hours, yet here I sit still thinking about this business.  Why?  Passion and drive and commitment to deliver something amazing, a love of what I do and a love for the people I work for and with, in short I care.

However, what has driven me to write this is not me, it is my team, the people I have around me who worked so hard this weekend to deliver five amazing events to such a high standard, without all of them it would not have happened and this journey would be lonely and no fun.

I can't tell you how much these people mean to me and how they have become my friends, my amazing sister whose work never ceases to amaze me, Helen who works non-stop, but also balances me (felt like I've known her all my life), Nikki who never lets me down and backed us all up brilliantly this weekend, Zahra who is a joy to be around, Christina for her Scooby, our new team members Michelle, Kellie, Candice, Izabel, our drivers Mike (aka business coach), Mustafa and Peter, Max and Sam who help out all the time, our brilliant new design team members, Charlotte who has helped Lucy so much and is spot on with her work, Syrie the tassel Queen, Yvonne who still helped even at a very difficult time, our brilliant party ambassadors are wonderful - Dipi, Theresa (who worked non-stop) and Savita plus Lucy Baxter who I think is brill, Karen and Nicole whose artwork blew me away, Zoe and her amazing cakes, Lee-Anne who saved our bacon, Clare and her pops, Mark who works wonders with our foamex, Ros and the mermaid sign and all our other suppliers and entertainers this weekend who all delivered. Abbie and her team, who deliver no matter what my balloon brief. Plus my gorgeous daughter Isabella who helped me today when I was flagging. And Addison Lee - great for emergencies. Feeling very blessed even if exhausted and what did we deliver this weekend ......

Party Clothes - Tulip & Nettle

That feeling of dressing for a party ... always accompanied by a slightly sinking heart and major attacks of stress and anxiety. For me, it started when I was about three and has never quite left. I love choosing what to wear for everyday life - I adore clothes but find dressing up really difficult.

It was always that way. One never felt quite right at the party and those given for small children at the time were never exactly relaxed; a formal tea table, peculiar food [margarine spread sliced bread with hundreds & thousands anyone?], some alien form of entertainment presided over by a resting actor, and competitive games involving never, ever, being the one to land on a chair as they were removed one by one. Exclusion! Alienation! Failure to sparkle! The other big factor: my generation didn't get much of a say in how they wanted to dress. Personally, I would have given ANYTHING for something frou frou & preferably pink. My mother, with exquisite taste, ignored me and favoured plain white silk dresses worn with black patent shoes. It probably looked really sweet but Oh, how I longed for frilly full skirts! Oh to be the FAIRY PRINCESS girl just once!

My Little Halloween Party

Well it is Halloween and all my children have now gone out with their daddy trick or treating.  I have decided to stay in the warm as feel I have done my duty with filling our house with lots of Halloween props and treats and throwing a mini party for them.

A party that really was only conceived about 24 hours ago with our new stylist Izabel.  Yes lucky mummy has stylists on tap - how cool is that! I also have an office full of props so doubly lucky.

With such a short amount of time and a limited budget I was really excited to see what Izabel could create. By utilising some of our existing stock jars, raiding the supermarkets and contacting the lovely Pop Bakery, Izabel created this cute Halloween sweet table and tea table for my party.

I just had to provide her with a cup of coffee and place some props around the house - lots of Brownie points for me and so nice to plan something for my children when I am working on other peoples parties so much.

Happy Halloween and enjoy the photos. Love Katie x

Army Survival Party

This week the team planned and designed a fantastic army/survival party and sweetie table for a very lucky little boy and his friends and family.

We collected a lot of colour coordinated sweets, as well as some pretty nasty treats for the table including edible barbecued centipedes, chocolate covered crickets and some lollipops with a surprise ingredient..

We wanted to keep the table as natural and lifelike as possible, so on Wednesday I managed to track down some great logs from Epping Forest to make our tree trunk cake stands which I am completely in love with..

Toy Kingdom

Good evening everyone, I hope you are all having a lovely summer. Here at Les Enfants we have been busy jet setting and enjoying the school holidays, I am off again tomorrow to Bergen in Norway which I am very excited about, Helen has been enjoying the Spanish Sunshine, and Katie has been touring the beautiful french countryside. However, I have had time for one more blog post before I go..

We have been busy over the past few months researching and liaising with some fantastic children's party venues across London, so I thought it would be a good idea to showcase a new found favourite of ours, 'The Toy Kingdom' which is situated on the third floor of Harrods.

Summer Collection

Good Morning! I apologise for the lack of blog posts recently, I have been silly busy moving house and enjoying a much needed break in the Spanish sunshine!

When it comes to summer, I always believe less is more. Some rustic beautiful furniture, an outside setting (weather permitting) and some beautiful flowers are all you need to create a beautiful display.

Summer is all about DIY. Picking your own flowers, your own strawberries - making your own cocktails, and your own centrepieces. If you are planning on throwing a party or small gathering, for yourself or your little ones, just try to be creative and unique in your display. I have collected a few of my favourite garden party displays below for your inspiration;

Last week I spent a few frantic days collecting as many ship props as I could find in order to style a photo shoot on board the HMSBelfast. The ship is permanently docked on the River Thames just south of Tower Bridge, with excellent transport links via London Bridge station which is just a short minute walk away.

We styled a nautical shoot, but of course had to be respectful of the ship, and be careful not to style the party pirate or sailor themed but instead channel a rustic, grand ship feel, to be in keeping with the ships heritage.

We set up a lovely little tea table using our own unique printables, along with our melamine plates and personalised accessories. We also set up a sweetie display using nautical themed treats and various props. The photo shoot was captured beautifully by Claudia Rose Carter.

Nautical sweetie display, all of our detail from the printables to the treats are tailored and personalised to your specific theme.

Pretty Printables...

We are thrilled to showcase a couple of our new printables for you that were designed last week.

We have focused on some little boys parties this week including a fun 'cowboys and indian' theme and a 'nautical' theme party, which we used for our photoshoot this week on the HMSBelfast, in central London.

I absolutely love this cowboy and indian theme, I have already started plannng a quote for this party with the hopes that someone will book it soon... such a rustic, different theme and suitable for boys and girls ... the party games would be great!
Our nautical themed printables were created for out photoshoot on HMSBelfast last week, make sure to check our facebook page and next blog entry for our shoot photos.

We Love Balloons...

We love using balloons at our parties, and I personally love researching new and different ideas on how to decorate the balloons! I personally have a huge folder full to the brim of photos and inspiration so I thought I would share a few of my favourites with you to inspire you to use these all time party favourites!

I love these chalk board balloons. A very quick and simple way to personalise your party! Of course black and white feels slightly more grown up, by adding colour to the balloons or ink, this could be brilliant for any childs party

Confetti filled balloons! A firm favourite of mine and very simple to do! Just make sure the balloons you choose are a pale colour so that you can see the confetti clearly.
Transparent balloons are a lot of fun, and by attaching streamers/ribbons or tassle you can tailor them to any theme or party.
Here at Les Enfants we absolutely love using our 3ft balloons. Attaching fringing, whether its short tassles or floor length, it really does add some extra charm.
I love this idea from, it would look brilliant in a tall room to have hundreds of helium filled balloons with this confetti detail attached.
These ice cream balloons are so incredibly pretty. We created our own for our ice cream parlour party and they really do look very pretty indeed!
I hope you are all having a lovely week and thank you again for all of our brand new likers, we really appreciate all of your support!

DIY Party Hats

After last weeks 'madhatter tutorial' I felt inspired to do a little research on more party hat ideas and tutorials. I love designing tailored hats for our parties, not only do they add another design element to our tea tables, but they also look fantastic for the photographs afterwards. There is nothing sweeter than a long bespoke tea table filled with children wearing pom pom party hats or lace crowns whilst eating off their matching melamine plates and drinking from their stripy or polka-dot paper straws. The children become part of the design which really makes for some beautiful photography and lasting memories..

Below i have attached a few of my favourites with links to tutorials so that you can make your very own hats! Enjoy...

These beautiful pom pom hats would look really lovely at any party. These hats are available from American retailer 'Shop Sweet Lulu' (link) however, I urge you to try and make your own- its great fun!

I absolutely love this 'sock monkey' hat. Would be brilliant for a first birthday...

Pretty, pretty, pretty, A beautiful design for a summer garden party, (especially now as summer appears to be on its way at last!)

I love these lace crown designs. I recently made 30 for a 'Once Upon a Time' party and loved how they looked on the table and on the heads of all the little princesses

A really lovely design for a cowboy and indian party, or peter pan and the lost boys!

These hats will make any little girl feel like a princess. An 'enchanted fairytale' theme party would be perfect ..

I hope you have enjoyed this post and have a lovely week!

Talk soon,
